Wind Powers Ahead in UK and USA

The UK offshore wind industry is not just helping save the planet but it can now be seen as a leading light in the nation's construction sector too.

In 2016 the record £4.1 billion spent building offshore wind power sites — up from £2.45 billion in 2015 — accounted for 21% of all UK infrastructure construction by contract value.

Solar Power Shining Example

Solar power is now on an unstoppable roll. This is the message not from politicians and pressure groups – whatever side of the climate change fence they stand — but from hard-headed businessmen, corporate and private investors, as well as increasingly the man on the street.

The reason is simple. Solar is cheap and becoming cheaper, and that makes the sector a highly attractive target for the moneymen who see an opportunity to turn a profit. The general public is also getting ever more enthusiastic about solar PV, as they see the financial sense it now makes to invest in the technology.  As OPEN previously reported many of the new innovations in solar, such as as a solar powered school,  a tuk tuk which crossed from India to London, solar water taxis, a solar aircraft which flew around the world and solar television have been hitting the headlines.

President Barack Obama put climate change at the heart of his farewell address to the American nation as the curtain comes down on his time in office.

The President, who clearly sees action against global warming as a key part of his legacy, has been using his final weeks in office trying to pre-empt any attempts by President elect Donald Trump to roll back environmental initiatives that aim for a low carbon future.
