Billion Dollar Solar Plan for Chernobyl Disaster Area

Plans to develop solar power farms in the radiation contaminated zone surrounding Chernobyl have taken a step forward with the announcement of a possible US$1 billion investment from Chinese firms.

According to Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ostap Semerak, the country is in talks with two Chinese companies to pursue possible investments in building a solar farm near the scene of the nuclear disaster that rocked the world in on April 26th, 1986.
