Solar Breaks the Treble Figure Capacity Barrier

Solar energy generation has passed an important landmark as the installed capacity of utility-scale solar plants across the world surpassed the 100 GW point, wiki-solar.org has reported.

Experts on large scale PV at Wiki Solar explained that by the end of March 2017 the global capacity had reached more than 101 GW, although the exact moment it entered treble figures is unknown.

Billion Dollar Solar Plan for Chernobyl Disaster Area

Plans to develop solar power farms in the radiation contaminated zone surrounding Chernobyl have taken a step forward with the announcement of a possible US$1 billion investment from Chinese firms.

According to Ukrainian Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ostap Semerak, the country is in talks with two Chinese companies to pursue possible investments in building a solar farm near the scene of the nuclear disaster that rocked the world in on April 26th, 1986.
