Greenpeace puts Carbon Spotlight on Amazon and Netflix

Businesses Save $12.4bn through Low Carbon Initiatives

Businesses are finding that saving the planet is good for the bottom line, with companies who have invested in carbon-cutting measures reporting savings of US$12.4 billion in 2016.

CDP, formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project, has just released its latest report which show an impressive 434 million tonnes of carbon emissions were saved by businesses world-wide through making efficiencies in their supply chains. To put that statistic into context, it is more than the entire annual carbon emissions of France.

Small Businesses to take up Green Challenge

Taking a look back at 2016, while the headlines in the energy press tended to be dominated by action on climate change being undertaken by governments, in many ways it can be seen as the year business stepped up to take a lead in the matter.

Giant corporations like Apple, Google and firms including IKEA, Adobe and Bank of America have all committed themselves to using renewable power through their membership of the RE100 group — and want others to follow their lead.
