German Calls to Ban Petrol and Diesel Engines

Germany's Bundesrat, which represents the nation's 16 federal states, has voted for a ban on internal combustion engines to be brought in by 2030.

If brought into law, this would mean that the country which invented petrol and diesel powered motors for road transport will also be the first nation to ban their use on the roads. Such a move would also affect plug-in hybrids, with the future belonging to electric vehicles (EVs), whether plug-in or hydrogen cell fuelled.
